There is an immediate opening within our Protein Sciences/Process Development Department for an experienced individual with the background, talents and interests listed below. In this position, you will be by supplying different quantities and qualities of purified proteins to a variety of Perseid projects that are in the discovery and development stages.
1. The position entails the execution of a variety of purification procedures.
2. Perform column chromatography on AKTA HPLC equipment (e.g. AKTA Explorer, AKTA Pilot). The understanding of the basic principles of protein chromatography, e.g. using hydroxyapatite, AIEX, CIEX, SEC, ProtA, would be beneficial.
3. Operate automated and semi-automated tangential flow filtration equipment (e.g. AKTA Crossflow, Sartorius Tandem).
4. Perform the typical post run analytics (e.g. SDS-PAGE, GPC, UV spectroscopy) and handle samples that are going to be submitted to the analytical group.
5. Diligently document experimental work in notebooks and possibly contribute to the generation of SOPs and reports. Qualifications: Must have a BS/BA in Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry or related discipline with at least 2 years of biotechnology industry experience or an MS in Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry or related discipline. Additionally, would prefer:
1. Experience with the development of column chromatography procedures for purification of proteins/biopharmaceuticals at the milligram to gram scale
2. Knowledge in the use of the above mentioned equipment
3. Good verbal and written communication skills are important. The candidate must be able to efficiently handle rapidly shifting work tasks in a highly collaborative team environment.
4. The candidate should be well organized, have a strong work ethic and be diligent in data documentation. Apply for this position
